Trailer vendor Motsmann has introduced the Outranger, its cheapest modular camper to date. Thanks to a unitized structure and an opt-in approach to equipment, it weighs as little as 658 kilos (1,450 lbs) and starts from $25,950.
The body comprises just six composite panels and ships in a variety of colors. It runs on a robust Timbren 2000 HD featuring per-wheel suspension, electric brakes and 15-inch wheels shod in 30-inch all-terrain rubber. The company claims that the Outranger was designed to be easily and cheaply repairable, but still reasonably resistant to humidity, vibrations and temperature changes.
A peek inside reveals a bed for two sized 2,080 mm (82 inches) long and up to 1,450 mm (57 inches) wide. A ceiling fan is provided for staying cool, and a 200-Ah battery pack is included for powering appliances. It even features a self-heating feature to function through the coldest time of year.
Most everything else is optional. $978 buys you a fresh water system, $993 adds a stovetop with a burner, and $475 adds a mini-fridge. An air conditioner comes in at $1,490 extra, while a heater will set you back $1,390. A rather basic 200W solar panel can be mounted on the roof for $498. Further options listed include an expedition rack, an articulating towing hitch, and an awning for outdoor picnics.
Motsmann positions the Outranger as an exceedingly affordable camping option that its owners can configure to their exact needs without paying a dollar extra. Preorders in the United States open on September 1, 2026.
