54-year-old Buick Riviera restomod sells for cheap

The gorgeous Buick Riviera seldom provides the basis for restomod projects, even though it could use the attention. This MY1971 example rocks an LS3 V8 and runs on modern components, so whoever bought it in Pennsylvania for $22,000 the other day struck a fine bargain.

Aside from the aforementioned V8, the luxury American coupe ended up with an aluminum radiator, forged H-shaped connecting rods and pistons and a cold air intake system. It retained its original 3AT, which was last overhauled in 2018.

Modern shock absorbers and front control arm bushings mean it also steers more like a modern car now. Inside, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a fresh layer of vinyl on the dashboard sum up the principal changes. The rest stays stock and appears to be in rather good condition for the age.

The listing did mention that the car still needed some maintenance. For one thing, it had peeling paint all around. For another, it lacked an air conditioner, which the owner had repaired but failed to reinstall. Since it seems to be street-legal, though, those are hardly major considerations for someone willing to drive a timeless classic.
