Car Tuning

It took three days for an enthusiast to build this hilarious not-quite-van

Zach Sutton, from Detroit, felt like testing his auto builder skills when he took a ’93 Dodge Caravan and grafted a ’91 Plymouth Voyager to its back. The result looks suitably nightmarish and is actually fully drivable!

Known as Bak2Bak, the minivan inherits most of its mechanical components from the Dodge, including its 3.3-liter six-pot and automatic gearbox. In turn, the Plymouth is represented by its cabin, interior and steering wheel.

Although the proud creator claims it took him three days to finish the project, the result is drivable and even has rear-wheel steering, but only when reversing. Sutton admits that it helped a lot that both minivans were made by Chrysler Group, even if one was offered in the States and the other one in Canada. As a big fan of Chrysler, he had been dreaming about doing something just as silly and whimsical as this – if only to remind the world that cars don’t have to be boring.

Is Bak2Bak street-legal? Apparently not yet, but it should be according to its creator. We’ll see how well that goes.
