Jaguar XE scores the best lap time at a circuit in Dubai, UAE

The extreme Jaguar XE SV Project 8 sedan/saloon, which the company plans to release in a limited series of just 300 copies, has set a new record by completing a 5.39-km (3.35-mile) long lap in Dubai, UAE in 2:18.81. The car was piloted by Jaguar Land Rover engineer and experienced racing driver Xavi Barrio Duato.

Powering the four-door vehicle is a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine rated at 600 hp (447 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lbft) of torque.

The Project 8 features carbon bodywork, adjustable suspension, titanium exhaust system, front splitter, dual-mode rear wing, and carbon-ceramic brakes. It accelerates 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and can eventually surpass 320 km/h (199 mph).

This is not the first time the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 emerges victorious from a race. Last fall, it set a new record time on the U.S. Laguna Seca circuit. Two years ago, it claimed the title of the fastest-going mass-produced sedan of Nürburgring.
