New Kia Stinger GTS debuts with tuned suspension and Drift mode

It’s Thursday, April 18, 2019, and we here at FormaCar are doing our best to keep you up to date with the latest premieres and announcements of the ongoing New York International Auto Show. The next in line is Kia, which has revealed a special edition of its Stinger sedan/saloon. Called the Stinger GTS, it goes on sale in a few days starting from U.S. 44,000.

The killer feature of the series is its D-AWD transmission that sends 60% of torque to the rear axle in the Comfort drive mode, but switches to 80% in the Sport mode and 100% in the Drift mode. The latter mode also completely uncouples the front drive and securely clamps the transmission in its currently selected gear. As a result, the car goes into a controlled drift.

You may instantly recognize the GTS version by its orange paint, carbon side mirror caps and radiator grille frame, and the model name spelled out in words in the rear. Interior improvements include Alcantara-wrapped central tunnel and steering wheel.

The series comes driven by the standard six-cylinder Stinger engine rated at 370 hp (276 kW).

Kia will only bring 800 units of the Stinger GTS to the United States, so be sure to order soon if you are interested.
