BMW M5 Edition 35 Years comes out in July, sports unique exterior and cabin

BMW has chosen to celebrate the 35th birthday of its M5 vehicle range by releasing a special series called the Edition 35 Years. Limited to just 350 units and based on the range-topping M5 Competition AWD, it will arrive in July 2019.

The newcomer features tweaked suspension and an M-branded rear differential, and packs a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood. The powertrain still produces the standard 625 hp (466 kW) along with 750 Nm (553 pound-feet) of maximum torque. You'd think they might as well have boosted it a bit, this being an anniversary and all, but... Nevermind. The first M5 only had 286 hp (213 kW) and 340 Nm (250 pound-feet) of torque, after all.

The car accelerates from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in its usual 3.3 seconds, while the first-gen M5 managed the same in 6.5 seconds (official sprint time stated in the documents).

As you have certainly realized by now, the special edition is all about looks. To that end, it comes painted Frozen Dark Grey with an original pattern and flaunts a set of 20-inch alloys with Y-spokes. The brake calipers are glossy black, but you can opt for gold-tinted carbon-ceramic ones instead (at a premium).

Interior novelty comes in the form of black leather upholstery stitched together with beige threads for contrast, lots of anniversary-themed logos and emblems, and unique trim elements on the doors, center tunnel, and dashboard. The manufacturer describes these as having a "shimmering gold anodized aluminum carbon structure," whatever that means.
