This one-off Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 could be yours for $8M

This majestic 1958 Ferrari 250 GT Series 1 Convertible – one out of only four vehicles of its kind built by Pininfarina – is looking for a new owner. The car, which is priceless in all senses of the word, will be auctioned off during the upcoming Monterey Car Week in August.

Headlights concealed behind glass panes, reshaped air intakes and bumpers – these purely aesthetic touches are what makes the 250 GT by Pininfarina quartet stand out in the crowd of their 36 ‘regular’, production-issue siblings. That is, if you can call a series of just 36 vehicles regular at all.

The first owner of this particular example was Alessandro Ruspoli, a renowned Italian playboy, aristocrat and one of Ferrari’s VIP clients. On the outside, the vehicle dons a Gloss Black livery with numerous chrome highlights, but it is still the interior that astonishes the most.

The entire passenger space comes wrapped in green leather. Sure, many will find it gaudy and out of place, but this eccentric touch might just be what truly makes this exclusive Ferrari a one-of-a-kind creation.

Later on, the vehicle was imported into the United States, where it underwent major restoration. In 1994, it scored the top prize in its vehicle class at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, thus proving its uniqueness yet once again.

Preliminary estimates place the price of the convertible somewhere in the 8,000,000 USD area.
