The first Lynk & Co EV for Europe spotted testing

Lynk & Co, a vehicle brand created between Geely and Volvo, has begun testing its first full-electric car in northern China. The camouflaged model will be known as the 02 EV and will reach Europe, among other markets.

On its domestic market, the company has a rather broad lineup going on with six SUVs and a sedan. In most of the rest of the world, it only sells its plug-in hybrid SUV, the 01 (see video). Alain Visser, former CEO of Lynk & Co Europe, let it slip in a recent interview that an all-electric model number 02 was underway to the Old Continent soon.

Based on the images, the car will have a slanted roof and be roughly 4.4 meters (14.5 feet) long. It’s still wearing placeholder head- and taillights, so the production is still a fair distance away. Inside, it has a squared-off multi-function steering wheel with a transmission lever underneath, digital gauges, a standalone multimedia display and two wireless phone chargers. The doors open with buttons instead of handles, and the overall styling resembles that of the Zeekr X.

Ruor has it the Lynk & Co 02 EV will be based on Geely’s SEA2 platform, the most up-to-date version of its Sustainable Experience Architecture. The same chassis lies at the base of the Zeekr X mentioned above, the Smart #1 and #3, and the Volvo EX30. We still don’t know anything about the powertrains, but they will likely be borrowed from the EVs listed above without any major modifications.

The SEA platform typically comes with either one electric motor installed at the rear axle or two motors driving all four wheels. The battery capacity maxes out at 66 kWh.
