Next-gen Hyundai Palisade shows up testing on snowy roads

Hyundai has proceeded to testing its next Palisade generation. According to CarBuzz, which has posted the first photos of a camouflaged SUV, there will be exterior updates and new multimedia tech, as well as some powertrain changes. The marque’s largest SUV is expected to go on sale in South Korea in early 2025.

Aside from wearing layers upon layers of camo, the vehicle seems to be using fake body panels as well. Even so, it’s obvious that Hyundai is targeting the look of its latest Santa Fe for the Palisade. This implies a boxier, more rugged-looking exterior with a nearly upright front grille, a flat hood and tiered headlights. It also looks slightly bigger than the current generation (in the video here), but with slightly shorter overhangs.

The bulky steering wheel and transmission tunnel look the same, but the display cluster is more modern and looks like that of the facelifted Creta: thin displays are merged into a single unit and built into the dashboard. The transmission selector could also be new.

In all likelihood, Hyundai will leave the next Palisade generation without the 2.2-diesel and the 3.8-liter V6 offered in the United States with 299 PS (295 hp / 220 kW). For whatever reason, the photographer was able to snap a shot of the engine bay with a lid saying “Turbo”. This makes us think of a 2.5-liter four-pot or a hybrid powertrain based on such an engine. Earlier reports indicated that Hyundai was preparing a new hybrid system to replace its outdated diesel and naturally aspirated petrol engines. It was estimated at 280 PS (276 hp / 206 kW).
