Cupra’s last ICE car, the Terramar, spotted testing

Volkswagen sub-brand Cupra has begun testing the Terramar SUV on public roads, Carscoops reports along with posting a handful of spy photos. The Spanish car is expected to debut in the second half of the year.

The original Terramar Concept debuted in the summer of 2022 (see video). Back then, the company claimed it would be Cupra’s last car to have an internal combustion engine under the hood before the brand goes all-electric.

In the technology department, the SUV will be closely related to the latest Volkswagen Tiguan that went on sale in Europe in February. It will reportedly run on the same MQB platform and utilize the same powertrain options, ranging from mild to plug-in hybrids. Compared to the Tiguan, it is expected to get a more aggressive exterior with new bumpers, radiator grille and headlights.

There are still no interior shots. Carscoops reckons that the cabin layout will be similar to that of the coupe-like Tavascan SUV. The latter has a V-shaped trim that visually links the dashboard with the center console.
