Car Tuning

Roadster Shop demonstrates how you build the ultimate Chevy Tri-Five

The famous tuner team over at Roadster Shop, renowned for its wildly successful range of classic American car restomods, has come out with a very special project. This time around, the donor was a Chevy Tri-Five – these were made in 1955–1957 and garnered a cult following.

The goal was to produce a no-holds-barred restomod that would combine flawless retro looks with incredible raw performance. The exterior wound up with what is known as the “rat look”: artificially aged bodywork, slammed suspension and “sinister” Forgeline OE1 wheels resembling dark eyeballs.

The rat theme continues in the cabin, which hides modern tech under impeccable vintage style. But what impressed us the most is the powertrain. It’s an LS7 V8 by General Motors that receives help from dual turbochargers, sending a ridiculous 1,318 PS (1,300 hp / 969 kW) to the rear wheels by means of a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual. That’s a veritable hypercar in rat’s skin!

Roadster Shop never revealed any pricing details.
