Acura NSX goes on sale “as new” after sitting still for 32 years

The condition of this 1992 Acura NSX teeters precariously between time capsule and barn find, but the owner still thinks he can sell it for six digits, Road&Track reports.

The resident of Pennsylvania bought a new Acura NSX finished in black in 1991. During a planned round of maintenance, a dealership employee took it on a joyride and crashed it. The dealership offered the owner a new white 1992 Acura as a way of saying sorry.

However, the insurance rates for the NSX model had gone up considerably in a year. The disgruntled owner decided not to pay the premium and voided his insurance. He had kept the car in a garage for 32 years after putting mere 2,000 miles (roughly 3,200 km) on it.

The asking price is unknown, but the seller is optimistic that it can get in the hundreds of thousands of USD. The car is covered in the layer of dust, but the listing claims it is as good as new. The mold traces visible in the cabin are supposedly “mild”, and the tires are still stock, which isn’t necessarily a good thing because Acura recalled them as faulty many years ago. Perhaps the most important caveat is that the car has not been driven or started in decades, meaning the oily bits will likely need some serious attention before it can get on the road again.
