Abarth dedicates a special Alfa Romeo 4C to a Fiat racer from the ‘60s

Renowned Fiat customizer Abarth has announced a project called the Classiche 1300 OT. It sounds like the company will dedicate its next big work to the legendary Fiat Abarth ОТ 1300, which was made from 1965 until 1968. Funnily enough, the base car is not a Fiat at all – it’s the Alfa Romeo 4C.

Back in its glory days, the Italian racecar packed a small 1.3-liter engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Coming in at 3,830 mm (just under 150 inches) and weighing as little as 655 kilos (1,444 pounds), it had easily claimed 13 racing victories before retiring.

The modern homage takes the Alfa Romeo 4C as the starting point and puts it into a custom body kit. The semblance is rather superficial, though – it still doesn’t look like a Fiat except maybe for those rear fenders. Even the “googly-eyed” round headlamps are missing for some reason.

Abarth hasn’t revealed any technical details. The car has so far only debuted on 3D renderings and as a life-size mockup. When it might get released is unknown.
