Opel Grandland transitions into its next generation

The new Opel Grandland will go on sale in Europe this autumn.

The compact SUV is sized 4,650 x 1,905 x 1,660 mm large with 2,784 mm of wheelbase. For the first time on record, it takes advantage of Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD headlights containing as many as 25,600 LEDs per headlight unit. The infotainment display is 16 inches large, and the front seats are particularly comfortable with ventilation and massage features already included.

The new Grandland is Opel’s first vehicle to be based on the STLA Medium platform developed by Stellantis. In practical terms, it means it can be obtained as a hybrid and as a pure EV. The full specifications are pending, but we already know that there will be battery choices up to 98 kilowatt-hours, promising up to 700 km (435 miles) of EV range.

If battery EVs aren’t your cup of tea, there are two hybrids on offer as well. One is a mild one based on a 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a 48V electric starter, while the other one is a PHEV with 85 km (52 miles) of electric range.

The manufacturer promises us adaptive shock absorbers in the suspension and all kinds of driving assists included in the Intelli-Drive 2.0 package.
