BYD Qin L debuts as the biggest SUV in the family

BYD has brought a number of vehicles to this year’s Auto China, including an executive saloon called the Qin L.

Sized 4,830 x 1,900 x 1,495 mm with 2,790 mm between the axles, it is the de-facto flagship of the company’s Qin lineup. Aside from a unique gloss trim on the dashboard, it sports a redesigned center tunnel housing a couple of wireless charging pads and a new transmission selector. The large display in the middle can swivel to face either the driver or the front passenger.

For the time being, the Qin L has been announced with a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor rated at no less than 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW). Earlier reports suggested that the company was working on an extremely fuel-efficient next-gen hybrid system capable of more than 2,000 km (1,242 miles) of range between charges. It is currently unknown how (or whether) those reports apply to the Qin L model unveiled at Auto China.
