The Omoda C7 is the marque’s new mid-size SUV flagship

Chery-owned car marque Omoda has held a private presentation in China to unveil its next flagship in the mid-size SUV lineup: the C7.

The car debuted under the domestic name “Chery Omoda 7”, but it’s official that it will go on sale as the C7 in other countries. According to Paultan, the first version to reach the showrooms will be a hybrid with up to 1,250 km (777 miles) of range. Less costly ICE variants are expected to go on sale soon after that one.

Compared to the smaller Omoda C5, the newcomer sports a decidedly more aggressive exterior. Inside, the most eye-catching feature is a 15.6-inch display with 2.5K resolution. The car is 4,621 mm (180.5 inches) long, 1,872 mm (73.2 inches) wide and 1,673 mm (65.4 inches) tall with 2.7 meters (105.5 inches) between the axles.

The first hybrid spec to go on sale will feature a 1.5-liter engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW). The electric motor count and output remain unknown. What we do know is that the company targets a fuel economy of 4.89 liters per 100 kilometers (48 MPG).
