Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle – the SU7 sedan – may be getting a stretched variant soon, as these spy photos posted on Weibo suggest. CarNewsChina quotes its own sources saying it will debut under the name “SU7 L” sometime in 2026.
Xiaomi hasn’t announced anything like this yet and is battling an ongoing supply shortage, so it remains to be seen when this version of the SU7 may see the daylight. Still, the car in the photos does look longer than standard – about 5.2 meters (17 feet) long, to be precise. That’s about 204 mm (8 inches) longer than standard. The 3-meter (117.2-inch) wheelbase can be expected to gain between 80 and 150 mm (3.1 and 5.8 inches).
According to CarNewsChina, the extra interior space will translate into rear seat legroom, while the seat count will remain unchanged. This sounds like Xiaomi wants to produce an executive saloon version of the SU7, while the standard version is being advertised as a high-end sports car.
If true, this would imply extra-comfortable rear seats, dedicated multimedia displays for the occupants, a mini-fridge and other luxury options. The suspension will also likely get tuned to strike a balance between handling and comfort.
The media in China already speculate that the SU7 L will land north of 400,000 CNY (56,000 USD). That would put it in a niche far above even such local competition as the BYD Han L AWD Flagship, which starts from 279,800 CNY (39,250 USD). Pricing for the current entry-level SU7 spec starts from 215,900 CNY (30,275 USD).
