JAC X8 Plus goes hybrid in China

Automaker JAC has brought a new modification of its X8 Plus SUV to Auto China, which uses a plug-in hybrid system to spend just 5.5 liters of gas per 100 kilometers (42.7 MPG).

Compared to the non-electrified crossover seen in the video here, the PHEV looks completely identical to it until you notice the charging port. The same goes for the interior, which is dominated by a trapezoid display arrangement composed of two 12.3-inch panels. The layout and the trim options seem to be the same. The show car was a six-seater and had a black, white and blue trim scheme.

The main 1.5-liter engine produces 152 PS (150 hp / 112 kW). The output of the electric motor remains to be disclosed. All we know right now is that the car peaks at 170 km/h (105 mph) and gets up to 84 km (52 miles) of all-electric range from its 19-kWh battery pack.
