Cadillac slams reverse on its complete electrification strategy

Following in the tire tracks of many other struggling EV makers, Cadillac has announced that it, too, won’t be trying to make 100% of its vehicle range electric by the end of the decade.

According to Detroit Free Press, the company remains hopeful about electric vehicles and will continue to develop them, but not at the expense of regular ICE cars. Speaking at a recent press conference, Cadillac Global VP John Roth said ICE cars and EVs would have to co-exist in the brand’s lineup for the time being. He never specified any terms but emphasized that the idea was to give customers the right to choose for themselves.

It sounds like the automaker will not be ditching traditional car production anytime soon. At the same time, Roth reiterated that creating a full-fledged and diverse portfolio of EVs was still a priority for Cadillac.

Asked by Motor1 regarding the EV transition terms, the company responded that they would solely depend on the market trends and demands.
