Zacoe redefines modern BMW M2 with a styling upgrade
August 21, 2024
LE NOVITÀ
The SAIC-Volkswagen joint enterprise in China has unveiled a refreshed version of its Lamando L liftback. Aside from updated looks, a thoroughly revised interior and a new powertrain lineup, the car got a performance package called GTS along with a nice 2.0T engine sourced from the latest Golf GTI.
All prices are pending, but AutoHome.cn points out that the full premiere remains scheduled for the Chengdu Motor Show starting on August 29, 2025. We’ll likely learn the rest of the details then; in the meantime, here’s what we already know.
The old 1.4-liter turbocharged engine is gone from the Lamando L lineup, replaced with a superior 1.5-liter mill capable of 160 PS (158 hp / 118 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Should you pay extra for the GTS spec, you’ll be getting two liters of displacement, 220 PS (217 hp / 162 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. This version comes only with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
A reshaped radiator grille with a different pattern, a new front bumper with vertical inserts, a redesigned rear bumper and new lights all around sum up the interior changes. The tailgate stays the same, but can now be power-assisted. Size-wise, the newcomer measures 4,791 x 1,831 x 1,491 mm with 2,731 mm between the axles, so roughly 100 mm 4 inches) shorter than the EU-spec Passat.
Inside, the main upgrade comes in the form of a new infotainment system featuring two displays sized 10.25 and 12.9 inches large. The screens are no longer merged like in the pre-facelift version and benefit from Volkswagen’s latest design language for China. The hardware runs on a Snapdragon 8155 chipset, while the software uses DeepSeek AI for all chatbot functions. It also supports both Apple CarPlay and Huawei HiCar straight from the factory.
Compared to the standard 2026 VW Lamando L, the GTS version wears a more aggressive aero kit. It also has black trim accents and wheels, as well as it own exhaust tips.
