Audi TT impersonates a Ferrari F40, feebly

Buying an original Ferrari F40 is a matter of roughly four million USD these days, so it isn’t really surprising how many replicas get made. Most of them use the time-proven Pontiac Fiero chassis as the starting point, but the one seen here wins originality points for being a 2010 Audi TT under the mascara.

The car stays fairly close to the original TT Mk2 (see video) – the doors, the roofline, the pillars, the windows and the mirrors all remain the same. Most of the F40 semblance comes from custom body panels, especially at the nose and the tail end. The front end makes a semi-convincing Ferrari impression, but there is no missing the fact that it’s a front-engined car. The 3.2-liter turbocharged V6 still sends its 250 PS (247 hp / 184 kW) to the four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

That’s not quite the same ballpark as Ferrari’s 2.9-liter V8 installed behind the seats and pushing 478 PS (471 hp / 352 kW) to the wheels. The rear end tries its best to resemble its Italian source of inspiration, but it frankly just looks glued on to the rest of the body.

The car is up for sale in France right now, listed with a non-negotiable price of €15,000.
