Tesla Model 3+ & Model YL specs leak online

Tesla continues to submit new data concerning its upcoming Model 3 and Model Y updates for China, CNEVpost reports quoting the local certification database. According to it, the new sedan called 3+ will offer up to 77 km (48 miles) of extra range compared to the old model. For its own part, the Model Y crossover will be offered as a six-seater with three seat rows inside. Just when they may become available remains unknown.

Starting with the Model 3+, it has been certified with a nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery manufactured by LG. It has 78.4 kilowatt-hours of capacity and delivers either 800 or 830 km (497 or 515 miles) of range, but the patent application fails to mention what determines the actual range. It’s probably the curb weight, because the new electric sedan starts at 1,760 kilograms (3,880 lbs) before options. The current Model 3 lineup in China gets between 623 and 753 km (387 and 468 miles) of range per the Chinese national standard.

In earlier news, we learned that the Model 3+ would a single-motor car rated at 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW). That’s roughly 30 horsepower or 22 kilowatts more than the current version (see video).

The Model YL looks no less interesting with an 82-kWh battery pack from LG and up to 751 km (466 miles) of range per charge. As you may have noticed, it has less range than the Model 3+ despite packing a bigger battery. The reason is in the increased power consumption by the drivetrain, which consists of a 193-PS (190-hp / 142-kW) motor at the front axle and a 269-PS (265-hp / 198-kW) one at the rear end.
