Tuners print an innovative exhaust system in 3D

Sports-grade exhaust systems often use a central pipe element that’s either X-shaped or H-shaped. Both designs struggle with gas turbulence occurring inside, slowing their flow rates. YouTuber Fluid MotorUnion proposes a highly unconventional, but arguably awesome-sounding solution to this problem.

It comes in the shape of a Z-pipe printed out of stainless steel using a 3D printer. The pipe connects to the engine from two sides and then splits the two exhaust streams into four, increasing the throughput and eliminating turbulence. As a result, the engine soundtrack becomes clearer and louder – there is nothing to obstruct the flow, after all.

It’s unclear how much an upgrade like this may cost, but the tuners say it needs to be fabricated with some strict tolerances in order to work as intended, so it’ll likely cost a pretty penny.
