Skoda turns its SUV EV into a track weapon

Skoda has posted the first images of a new all-electric prototype racer named the Enyaq RS Race. It’s an extensively modified Enyaq RS model that’s set to debut as a concept car first.

The design team says it plans to implement a number of professional motorsport technologies and design approaches in the project. The chassis will be widened and lowered compared to stock, the shock absorbers will be fully replaced and new 20-inch wheels will slot into the arches. A lightweight body kit will go side-by-side with a stripped cabin housing two bucket seats with multi-point harnesses and a roll cage, but no rear bench.

New bumpers, a large rear diffuser and a massive rear wing will make the concept car stand out. The base powertrain will stay the same, but minor improvements will be made here and there, according to Skoda.

We are told that the concept SUV will pioneer certain technologies that will later find use in mass-market cars. The company doesn’t clarify which ones, though.
