AUDI E slated for late April debut

The SAIC-Audi joint enterprise in China will be attending the Shanghai Auto Show next month with a production car based on the AUDI E Concept from the last fall.

Before we proceed, note that “AUDI” (spelled out in capital letters like this) is a sub-brand registered by Audi specifically for the Chinese domestic market. It lacks the German marque’s traditional four rings emblem and otherwise doesn’t have much in common with the European car.

Instead, the upcoming AUDI E runs on a SAIC chassis known as the Advanced Digitized Platform. All technical specifications remain to be revealed, but it’s already official that the company will be introducing an SUV and a hatchback next.
