This absolutely unhinged BMW M3 impostor hails from China

Some BMW brand enthusiasts find the design of the latest G80 M3 saloon a bit crude, if not downright vulgar. On the other side of the spectrum are those who can’t get enough of it. Case in point: this ridiculous M3 from China that looks like it ate its dietician.

Before we begin, there’s one thing to get out of the way. It’s not a real BMW M3. Instead, it’s an elderly Volkswagen Lamando wearing an oversized body kit atop a stretched chassis. It sports what appears to be genuine OEM headlights, OEM-style taillights, and a quad-nostril radiator grille. The body – which is over 3 meters (10 feet) long, by the way – wears a recognizable green paintjob from the BMW palette.

The tuner behind the project doesn’t reveal all details, or at least we haven’t been able to find much. What we do know is that the car continues to rely on the Lamando’s 1.4-liter four-pot boosted to 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). For comparison, the G80 M3 starts from 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW).

Envisioned as an art car for shows and events, the “M3 Squared” apparently isn’t street-legal. It only has one proper seat inside – the driver’s, plus a dozen of beanbag seats for the passengers. We also have no idea how fast it is and suspect that it’s beside the point of the build, anyway.
