2025 DS 4 debuts with a new engine, exterior, and name

The French premium automaker has updated its model number four, adding a number sign to the name: DS №4.

Compared to the pre-facelift, the newcomer also has a seriously revised exterior including a new front fascia. The rear end sports new “DS Automobiles” lettering instead of the usual DS badge. Trimming materials have been improved across the board, and the digital dash cluster size has gone up from 7 to 10.25 inches of diagonal size.

An all-electric modification called the E-Tense has been added to the lineup. It relies on a single motor to drive the wheels with 213 PS (210 hp / 157 kW) and 343 Nm (253 lb-ft) of torque. A 58.3-kWh battery pack delivers up to 450 km (280 miles) per charge. Charging from a 120kW source for roughly 30 minutes is enough to go from 20 to 80 percent, partly owing to improved thermal regulation.

The middle-ground spec is still a plug-in hybrid, but DS says it has been improved in multiple ways. It now combines a 180-PS (178-hp / 132-kW) petrol engine with a 125-PS (123-kW / 92-kW) electric motor for a total of 225 PS (222 hp / 165 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque.

A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission takes the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.1 seconds, which is roughly a third of a second faster than before. All-electric driving now lasts 81 km (50 miles) – up 30% from before the facelift. This is largely thanks to a bigger 14.6-kWh battery pack used in the new version.

Finally, those looking for an affordable DS №4 may consider a mild hybrid based on a 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine. It receives help from a 28-PS (21-hp / 21-kW) electric motor and outputs 145 PS (143 hp / 107 kW) along with 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) to the wheels in hybrid mode. The e-motor is built into the hatchback’s six-speed DCT.

There are no specific availability dates yet, but we hear rumors that the production is slated for this summer. If true, the first deliveries should begin in the fall.
