Geely has formally introduced its next sedan for the domestic market, the Galaxy A7 EM-i. It’s fairly large and can do up to 2,100 km (1,305 miles) on a tank thanks to an improved hybrid powertrain.
According to CarNewsChina citing unofficial sources, the sales should start closer to the end of the year. Prices may start in the 100,000–130,000 Yuan range, making the car quite affordable for its class. It’s sized at 4,918 х 1,905 х 1,495 millimeters (LWH) with a wheelbase spanning 2,845 mm. 19-inch wheels are included as standard, and the trunk size varies from 535 to 988 liters.
The powertrain incorporates an innovative 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that commands a record-high heat efficiency of 47.26%, according to Geely. Assisted by an electric motor, it outputs 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW). Going from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is still fairly sluggish at 7.1 seconds, and the sedan cannot exceed 190 km/h (118 mph).
Buyers will be choosing from three LFP battery packs rated at 8.5, 18.4 and 18.99 kWh. Depending on your choice, the all-electric range may vary from 55 to 150 km (34–93 miles). The engine is said to be exceptionally efficient with a fuel economy of 2.67 liters per 100 km (88 MPG in North American terms). Geely highlights that the combined mileage per tank isn’t just owing to the engine: intelligent software on board helps minimize power losses at all stages and direct the torque exactly where it is needed, when it is needed.
Interior features include a Flyme Auto infotainment system based off two displays 12.3 and 15.4 inches large, as well as a 16.6-inch HUD and as many as 16 audio speakers. Despite such an abundance of screens, the car retains a fair number of physical buttons. The seats are ventilated and support eight massage presets. Options include atmospheric ambient lighting and panoramic sunroof. Over-the-air updates are enabled by default.
