Wey showcases ‘the van of the future’ in Munich

Great Wall-owned car marque Wey has introduced the iNest Concept, an extra-comfortable minivan sporting an unusual exterior design and interior layout. No specifics were given, but the company had repeatedly stated its interest in the MPV segment of the market earlier.

Aside from novel looks, the vehicle has video cameras in place of the side mirrors, saloon doors with concealed handles, and sealed wheel arches. Don’t go looking for wheels, though: there are none. Instead, the show car sits on plastic props aligned with the arches and mounted outside of the main cabin to maximize interior space.

Inside, the floor is perfectly level, and there are five seats arranged in three rows. The middle row has just one seat, while the rear row is installed as far back as possible to give passengers the most legroom. A console between the seats offers a refrigerator box, storage compartments, and a large swivel display.

The steering wheel is rudder-shaped and sawn off at the top. A giant display of unspecified size or purpose spans the entire front fascia width.

The company admits that the design study will never reach production in this form, but a new Wey MPV will still be announced in the coming months.
