Leaked: Chevrolet Equinox EV hits production in Mexico

General Motors is getting ready to introduce the all-electric Chevy Equinox this fall. There is still no official info, but a leaked photo reveals what its creator claims to be the compact electric SUV already leaving the GM conveyor belt in Mexico. It might be a pre-production sample or a pilot batch, but the image looks genuine at least.

When it reaches the market, the Equinox EV is supposed to become an affordable crossover SUV targeting the $30,000 price point. Several years may pass before it becomes this affordable, though – GM CEO Mary Barra said in a recent interview that another decade may pass until $30,000 EVs become our everyday reality.

Later on, GM also plans to deliver Blazer EV, Chevrolet Silverado EV and a number of zero-emission sports cars.
