Lamborghini Veneno smashes through a historical price record

SBX Cars, an online auction platform run by the renowned Supercar Blondie, has announced hitting an all-time high price for cars sold over the Internet. Someone bought one out of nine produced Lamborghini Veneno roadsters for a cool $6,000,000.

A dealership from Dubai posted the sale ad around two years ago, hoping to sell the car for $9,500,000. The auction had lasted for two years, but the reserve was not met in the end. The auction holders then contacted the seller and the highest bidder and convinced them that six million USD was quite in order, too. As a result, the Veneno found a new owner this weekend while also setting a price record for vehicles sold online.

If you’d like a closer look at the car itself, it’s a model year 2015 example finished in a unique combination of black and green. Like the related Aventador model, it utilizes a 6.5-liter V12 to drive the wheels with 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) and needs 2.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill. The odometer shows 1,778 km (1,105 miles) of use.
