IPhone maker Foxconn teases an MPV concept

Foxtron, an automobile company belonging to IT giant and Apple device manufacturer Foxconn, has unveiled a luxury seven-seater van concept named the Model D. Co-designed with Pininfarina and ZF Engineering, it may reach production in 2026.

The Italian coachbuilder came up with the sharp, edgy exterior, ultra-slim headlights and novelty taillights. The van is 5,195 mm (203 inches) long, 1,995 mm (78 in) wide and 1,785 mm (70 in) tall with a low drag ratio of 0.23.

The interior accommodates two individual seats in the middle row with wireless charging pads built into the armrests. The driver gets a digital dashboard and a large infotainment system (size unspecified). There is no dedicated passenger’s screen, likely because the main display is big enough for both front seat occcupants. Two more displays can be found in the middle row.

ZF Engineering, a company famous for its transmissions, has helped design the platform. It supports 800V power, batteries rated up to 120 kWh, and should be good for up to 660 km (410 miles) of range. Active suspension allows for easy ride height adjustment. There are no power, torque or other specifics yet.

Unofficial reports are coming in that Foxtron may not put its branding on the minivan once it is finalized for production. To maximize sales, it may want to team up with a more popular car brand in China. We still have two years to see how it pans out.
