Afeela 1 comes in 2026, starts just under $90k

Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) has attended the CES 2025 with its first production car, the all-electric liftback Afeela 1. You can already preorder it, but don’t expect to get one until next year at the earliest.

The first trim to ship will be the $89,900 Origin. Throw in another $13,000, and you will be getting the deluxe Signature. Both prices include a 3-year subscription to various connected services and features, including Level 2 self-driving and an AI-powered virtual assistant. The required deposit is just $200, but orders are currently only accepted in California (and it’s unknown when the other states may follow).

The Afeela 1 Origin is slated to hit production in Ohio in 2026. The Signature spec won’t ship until 2027.

When the electric hatchback showed up at a recent expo, it was 4,915 mm (192 inches) long, 1,900 mm (74.2 inches) wide and 1,460 mm (57 inches) tall with 3,000 mm (117.2 inches) of wheelbase. This latest pre-production example had two electric motors outputting 489 PS (482 hp / 360 kW) to all four wheels and packed a 91-kilowatt-hour battery estimated at 483 km (300 miles) of range. How the final production version will compare to it remains to be seen.
