Mercedes-Benz Updates GLE and GLS Models

Mercedes-Benz has updated its GLE and GLS models, which are now in their fourth and third generations, respectively. The GLE previously replaced the M-class name and introduced a Coupe variant. The GLS, formerly known as the GL, is in its third extended generation.

Exterior modifications include updated bumpers and new grilles featuring small three-pointed stars. The revised detailing also encompasses new headlights and taillights, which incorporate star elements. The GLE's headlight stars are arranged horizontally, while the GLS's are stacked vertically. Taillights on the GLE display two stars, and the GLS taillights show three.

Inside, the 12.3-inch driver and center displays are now complemented by a passenger touchscreen of the same size, forming a "Superscreen" that is standard on both models. An AI assistant with visual representations on the center screen is also available. Steering wheel controls have seen some changes, with the volume control now a roller and adaptive cruise control featuring a physical rocker. The directional pad on the right spoke remains capacitive-touch. The HVAC vents have also been reshaped.

A new electrical architecture has been implemented, aligning both models with the S-class hardware. This allows for over-the-air updates and supports additional apps and systems. Sensors for Mercedes' Hands-Free Highway Assist and City Pro are present, with these features expected to be enabled via future software updates.
