Audi A5 PHEV announced

Audi has expanded its current A5 liftback and wagon lineup with a new plug-in hybrid powertrain option. It promises up to 116 km (72 miles) of all-electric range.

This new version is called “e-hybrid”. It is based on a 2.0-liter turbocharged combustion engine producing 252 PS (249 hp / 185 kW). Buyers can choose to team up this engine with one out of two available electric motors. If you go for the cheaper option, your combined hybrid output will peak at 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 450 Nm (331 lb-ft) of torque. If you pay for the premium version, you will get 367 PS (362 hp / 270 kW) and 500 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.

Regardless of your choice, you will be getting a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and AWD. The top speed is also identical at 250 km/h (155 mph) across the two versions, but the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time goes down from 5.9 seconds to 5.1 in the top spec.

Audi ships both A5 e-hybrid variants with the same 25.9-kWh battery pack.
