New Audi Q3 touches down in Europe

Audi has officially introduced the third generation of its Q3 SUV. Preorders in Europe will start later this summer.

The new generation only has one AWD powertrain. It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine mated to a seven-speed DCT for 265 PS (261 hp / 195 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque.

If four driven wheels is too many, you can go with a 2.0-liter TDI and still get 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) alongside 360 Nm (272 lb-ft) of torque. Maximum savings are provided by a 1.5-liter mild hybrid spec rated at 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW). It can temporarily deactivate its second and third cylinders to save fuel.

Last but not least, there is a plug-in hybrid Audi Q3 that combines a turbo four-pot with an electric motor for 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) total. A 25.7-kWh battery gives this version up to 119 km (74 miles) of all-electric range. Replenishing the charge from 10 to 80 percent only takes half an hour or so.

The first customer deliveries won’t begin until October. Prices start from €44,600, with the PHEV priced from €49,300. The production will take place in Ingolstadt, Germany and Győr, Hungary.
