Bugatti Chiron Super Sport debuts on official terms

Shortly after pulling the veil off the unique La Voiture Noire, Bugatti proceeded to unwrap a slightly less exclusive model, the Chiron Super Sport.

A prototype by the same name passed the 490 km/h (304 mph) mark back in the fall of 2019, and now, that car finally arrives to the market in a somewhat trimmed-down road-legal edition. It sports an elongated rear, original wheels, special rear diffuser and exhaust system, and a very clean body that has nothing attached that would impair its aerodynamic performance. Found in the cabin are quality aluminum, carbon fiber and leather.

While the Pur Sport edition prioritizes unparalleled cornering performance, the Super Sport leans towards a more comfortable ride in a straight line, even at insane accelerations. Bugatti CEO Stephan Winkelmann calls it ‘the best transports for transcontinental journeys’, and judging from the specs alone, we are inclined to agree.

The eight-liter sixteen-banger under the hood receives a boost from 1,500 to 1,600 metric horsepower, the same amount the Centodieci version has. Top speed lies at 440 km/h (273.4 miles per hour), an improvement over the 380-420 km/h (236-261 mph) of the standard Chiron and a substantial bump from the 350 km/h (217.5 mph) of the Pur Sport.

Only nine such cars will be assembled in total, each priced from 3.2 million euro. The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is slated to become even more exotic and rare than the Centodieci while being less expensive.

Shipments will begin next year.
