Cadillac’s latest EV is small, but fast and powerful

Cadillac’s next V-Series vehicle, the Optiq-V, is slated for production in the fall.

The Optiq-V is the first fully electric model from General Motors and the first one to feature a NACS-standard charging port compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.

Like the regular Optiq for North America, the V comes equipped with two e-motors by default. Their output goes from the standard 304 PS (300 hp / 221 kW) to a healthy 526 PS (519 hp / 387 kW), while the peak torque rises to 881 Nm (650 lb-ft). In Launch Control mode, the car needs 3.5 seconds to go from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph).

The battery stays the same at 85 kilowatt-hours of nominal capacity. Higher power consumption means that the Optiq-V only covers 443 km (275 miles) per charge on average, down from the standard version’s 486 km (302 miles).

The equipment list mentions extra body kit parts, 21-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, adaptive suspension and torque vectoring. The interior stays largely the same with the exception of a sporty steering wheel and assorted carbon-fiber trims.
