Cupra’s next large SUV gears up to compete with BMW iX3

When Cupra unveiled its bold and futuristic design study called the Tindaya, it looked like something that would never become a real car. The Volkswagen Group brand used AI-generated videos to promote it and claimed that it could be “steered with the power of your mind.” Marketing fluff aside, though, it’s now been confirmed for production.

The Cupra Tindaya is currently being developed based on the automaker’s SSP architecture for premium vehicles. The company says it will decide on the appropriate powertrain later, basing the decision on whatever is available and popular at the time. The concept version seen in the video above utilized a hybrid system rated at 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW), but only a virtual one, at that.

Once out and about, the Tindaya is expected to compete with the BMW iX3 in its market segment. It’s also being billed as a high-tech vehicle, but without any further specifics. We wouldn’t expect any telepathic driving capabilities if we were you.

The launch year remains to be announced. Price-wise, Cupra says it hopes to offer the Tindaya starting from €70,000 in Europe.
