Rare McLaren Speedtail crops up on sale

A McLaren Speedtail with only 281 km (175 miles) under its belt is being auctioned off with the bidding at 2,000,000 USD and several days left.

The car is number 72 out of 106 examples made. It was conceived by McLaren as an ideological successor of sorts to the legendary F1 model. The parallels between the two include the production run (106 units) and the interior layout (1+2 with the driver’s seat in the middle front position).

Powering the coupe is a tandem between a 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor. The output amounts to 1,050 PS (1,036 hp / 772 kW) and 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) of torque. With a top speed of 403 km/h (250 mph), the Speedtail was the marque’s fastest vehicle in history when it premiered.

The example on sale is finished in a shade of dark grey and has a cabin trimmed in brown and black leather. Video cameras are installed instead of side mirrors, and the brake calipers are black.

The record mentions just one owner, who paid £1,836,000 for his vehicle. The current bid is still lower than that, but we expect it to be surpassed soon.
