Meet the Skoda Enyaq RS Race, a sleek and lightweight design study

Skoda has built a unique concept car based on the coupe-like Enyaq RS. The electric car shed a whopping 316 kilos (697 lbs) of weight and began looking like a serious racer. The company admits it won’t be mass-produced, but the experience will come in handy in future designs.

On the outside, the Enyaq RS wears a completely transformative body kit consisting of new bumpers, a diffuser with winglets, a large rear wing and a redesigned faux grille at the front end. Polycarbonate windows were installed all around, and modern biomaterial composites provided the basis for the bodywork.

On the technical side of things, the car offers racing-grade adjustable shocks, carbon-ceramic brakes with ten-piston calipers, and 20-inch wheels. The ground clearance is 70 mm (2.7 inches) lower than stock, and the body is 103 mm (4 inches) wider.

Like any proper race car, the Enyaq RS Race features a stripped cabin with bucket seats, a rally-style parking brake lever, a roll cage made from chrome-molybdenum steel, and a fire extinguishing system. The steering wheel and steering mechanism are all-new, too.

The powertrain is stock, which implies dual motors summing up to 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW) and an 82-kWh traction battery. Still, since the EV is much lighter than the production version, it hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in under five seconds. The top speed remains capped at 180 km/h (112 mph).
