2025 Lexus ES breaks cover in China

Lexus has given its ES sedan for China a typical mid-life refresh, sprucing up the exterior and the cabin while leaving powertrains intact.

Most of the novelty can be seen at the front end with a revised bumper, a slightly retouched radiator grille and new light patterns for the headlights. The rear bumper is updated, too, and there is now a solid brake light strip spanning the entire width of the rear.

Inside, a new 14-inch display sits where the 12.3-inch infotainment screen used to be. Despite its generous size, it is still accompanied by a couple of handy hardware dials, meaning you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to dial in the most used settings. The transmission selector has been updated, and the voice assist system is reportedly better than ever.

In China, the sedan is available in two versions. The ES 200 packs a 2.0-liter, non-electrified engine rated at 173 PS (171 hp / 127 kW). The ES 300h benefits from a bigger 2.5-liter block and an e-motor summing up to 217 PS (214 hp / 160 kW). For both, a CVT carries the torque to the front wheels.
