Hyundai Creta goes all-electric

Hyundai has unveiled its next EV – a battery-powered Creta SUV for India. It won’t debut live until January 17th, but in the meantime, let’s look at the first details.

The front fascia looks rather unique with a charging port where the radiator grille is supposed to be, as well as a redesigned bumper with active air intake louvers. The wheels are still 17 inches large but sport a new spoke pattern, and the Ocean Blue color is new, too.

A peek inside reveals a different steering wheel with a transmission lever nearby, freeing up space on the center tunnel. The infotainment system seems to be the same, but the UI and graphics have changed.

In model year 2025, the Creta Electric will rely on a single front-axle motor that will accelerate it 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds. The output hasn’t been revealed yet, but Hyundai says there will be three drive modes called Eco, Normal and Sport. Batteries come in two capacities, 42 and 51.4 kWh, rated at 390 and 473 kilometers, respectively (242 and 294 miles). Charging from 10 to 80 percent will take 58 minutes, the company says.
