Netherlands-based sports car manufacturer Donkervoort has announced a series of 70 extreme carbon fiber roadsters called the D8 GTO. Prices begin from €198,000.
The newcomer slots into the flagship position on the manufacturer’s lineup and comes powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine good for 421 hp (313 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft). The transmission is five-speed manual.
Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber components, the vehicle weighs in under 700 kilograms (1,550 lbs), enabling it to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in trifling 2.7 seconds and 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 7.7 s. The hard limit lies at 280 km/h (174 mph).
Customers can opt for carbon-fiber wheels and EPS (power steering is missing from the standard feature list).
The series and the total production run of 70 units are dedicated to the 70th birthday of Joop Donkervoort, the founder of the company.
