Audi RS4 Avant vs. BMW M3 CS: An Unlikely Duel

You’d think the Audi RS4 Avant and the BMW M3 CS are entirely different cars with different body types and technical properties, but apparently someone decided that it would be more fun that way. Let’s see how the bulky and heavy Audi estate car holds its own against the lightweight but performance-packed BMW sedan.

The engine power is perhaps the only thing the two cars have in common. The Audi RS4 Avant has 460 hp (343 kW) at its disposal, while the BMW M3 CS has 450 (336). The former utilizes an 8-speed automatic transmission and AWD, while the latter comes rear-driven and features a 7-speed DSG box.

As you may already have guessed, the Bavarian sedan clearly was the crowd’s favorite. It took all of a few seconds for the spectators to realize how wrong they were, though. The all-wheel-driven Audi RS4 Avant demonstrated excellent road grip and effortlessly left the BMW M3 CS in the metaphorical clouds of dust. Although, to be frank, the BMW M3 CS later almost managed to close the gap towards the finish line – that is, almost, but not quite enough.

In the roll race that followed, the BMW M3 CS also turned out ahead of the heavy estate car.
