Japanese Brave Robotics & Asratec reveal a car-robot transformer

The Japanese companies Brave Robotics and Asratec have revealed the fruit of their latest joint effort, a robot which only needs 60 seconds to transform into a car.

Brave Robotics was responsible for the hardware part of the transformer project, whereas Azratec took up the development of software.

The mech goes by the name “J-deite RIDE” and is four meters (~13 ft.) tall. In a matter of a minute, it can turn into a motorized vehicle 3.8 meters (12 ft.) long. It can be controlled from the cockpit or remotely.

The developers still haven’t taken their Autobot wannabe for a stroll outside of the garage, but they say J-deite RIDE walks a hundred meters (~330 ft.) per hour. They plan to eventually launch series production and sell it to amusement parks.

This isn’t the first time a similar robot/car concept sees the daylight. Sarcos Robotics unveiled a similar mech it called Guardian GT in October 2017. The robot moved on a tracked platform and had two-meter (~7 ft.) long limbs that could mimic every hand motion of a human standing before it.
