Lynk & Co 02 SUV goes on sale in China

Sales of the new Lynk & Co 02 SUV line have begun in China earlier today. The European release in expected in 2020 or later.

Lynk & Co is a Swedish-Chinese joint enterprise founded two years ago by Volvo and Geely. It released its first car – the crossover/SUV called Lynk & Co 01 – a year ago.

As for the Number Two, the vehicle really looks and feels more like a tall hatchback than an SUV. It is based on the CMA platform of the Volvo XC40 and is 4,448 mm (14 3/5 ft.) long, 1,528 mm (5 ft.) tall and 1,890 mm (6 1/5 ft.) wide. Its wheelbase amounts to 2,702 mm (8 7/8 ft.), and the road clearance to 201 mm (7.9”).

The new Lynk & Co 02 ships with a number Volvo Drive-E gasoline engines to choose from, including a 1.5L turbo engine with 156 hp / 116 kW (available with the manual transmission) and its stronger version with 179 hp / 133 kW and semi-automatic transmission. The top trim level ships with a 2.0L turbo engine capable of 190 hp / 142 kW, available with either of the above two transmission variants. A hybrid variant will become available at a later date.

The top trim level also includes a digital dashboard, a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, two-zone climate control, emergency brake and leather interior finishing.

Prices vary between U.S. $18,500 and $29,000.
