Hennessey Performance has recently revealed a video dedicated to a drag race between two U.S. cars, a modded Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and a vanilla Dodge Challenger Hellcat coupe with a custom body kit.
In its stock version, the Chevrolet Tahoe ships with an engine good for 420 hp (313 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb·ft). The Hennessey Performance team has retrofitted it with new forged pistons, an intercooler, and an enormous 2.9L turbocharger. They have also reworked the exhaust system and a number of other parts.
This resulted in the performance skyrocketing to 805 hp (600 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb·ft). Driven by the boosted engine, the bulky and heavy off-roader still manages to accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in less than four seconds.
The Challenger Hellcat coupe comes driven by a 6.2L V8 engine with 700+ hp (520+ kW).
You’d think the heavy Tahoe would stand no chance against the fast and agile coupe – and you’d be wrong. See the video for a most unexpected outcome of the race.
