Rumor: Geely to establish new Zeekr brand for premium EVs

Zhejiang Geely Holding has patented the brand name ‘Zeekr’ in China without providing any kind of official comment. Insiders claim the badge will be slapped on SEA-based luxury electric vehicles.

The target level of premium is that of Mercedes-Benz, but sources are reporting that Geely really goes after Tesla and its market share with this move. The patented trademarks seem to confirm this: for instance, there’s ‘Zeekr Power’ (likely for powertrain/battery tech), ‘Zeekr AI Mate’ (artificial intelligence/voice assistant), ‘Zeekr AD’ (autonomous driving), and ‘Zeekr Eva’ (your guess is as good as ours).

The Lynk & Co Zero EV features in our gallery and the video here will arrive later this year as the first production car based on the SEA platform. With the latest news in mind, we expect a Zeekr-badged twin to arrive alongside that model. Rumors say Stefan Sielaff might design that one.
