Meet Elektron One, a 1MW electric hypercar concept

Elektron Innovativ GmbH, an automotive manufacturer based in Germany and headed by Turkish director Armağan Arabul, will be attending the next year’s Geneva show with Elektron One, an electric hypercar with a whole megawatt of power under its command.

The vehicle currently only exists in 3D concept renderings and design drafts, and most specs remain to be established. But even like this, it looks seriously impressive.

The coupe features a monocoque cabin made up from aramid, bio fiber and carbon fiber components, a battery set built into the monocoque, and radius-rod suspension. Its powertrain pushes out 1,000 kilowatts, which translates into 1,360 PS, or 1,341 U.S. horsepower.

The company promises to price its Elektron One considerably below competition: specifically, between €330,000 and €350,000 before taxes. It also intends to produce it in large quantities, starting at 140 units per year and working its way up to 500 annual units.

To put things into perspective, both the Pininfarina Battista (€2,000,000) and the Rimac C_Two (USD 2,000,000) will emerge in series numbering 150 units total. The Lotus Evija (£1.5M – £2M) will be kept down to just 130 units.

The upcoming Tesla Roadster is the only notable exception with its 200,000 USD starting price and unlimited yearly production plans. Just whether Tesla manages to deliver on that promise remains to be seen, however.

Elektron says it will establish its production site in the famous Motor Valley in Bologna, Italy, close to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Pagani. Later on, the company plans to launch a roadster model, a racecar, an even higher-spec hypercar, and perhaps also an electric superbike.

Last but not least, Armağan Arabul wants to put together his own racing team, which would be called Scuderia-E and would participate in the Formula E championship.
